JAKARTA, Indonesia — Indonesian edtech startup CoLearn has been selected to join Surge 03, the third cohort of Sequoia Capital India’s rapid scale-up program for early-stage startups across India and Southeast Asia.

CoLearn, founded in early 2020 by Abhay Saboo and Marc Irawan, is among 15 companies chosen for the cohort out of thousands of applicants across the region.

Surge 03 brings together early-stage startups spanning sectors such as education, software-as-a-service (SaaS), healthcare, and consumer technology. Participating companies receive $1 million to $2 million in initial capital alongside a 16-week virtual scale-up program designed to build company fundamentals across hiring, product development, and go-to-market execution.

CoLearn’s platform focuses on empowering offline tuition centers and educators in Indonesia to digitize their operations, enabling them to deliver interactive live online learning experiences for students.

“Our goal at CoLearn is to strengthen Indonesia’s educational ecosystem by giving traditional tutors and learning centers the digital tools they need to reach and engage students effectively,” said Abhay Saboo, Co-founder and CEO of CoLearn. “Participating in Surge provides us with mentorship and structural guidance as we scale our technology platform.”

The 16-week program features structured workshops and mentorship sessions with industry founders and investors, including leaders from CRED, Tokopedia, and Sequoia Capital.

CoLearn joins two other Indonesian companies in the Surge 03 cohort—BukuKas and Hangry—reflecting growing investor engagement with early-stage technology platforms in the country.
